Laura is a graduate of Guilford College with a B.S. degree in Sports Management. She is a Certified Dance Educator and Member of Dance Masters of America, Inc. and Carolina Dance Masters, Inc. Affiliate Chapter #15 with over 30 years of dance training. Laura served on the CDM Board of Directors 2009-2013 and is currently serving in an appointed board position as Junior Membership Advisor. In addition to teaching in a studio Laura has served as a competition judge throughout the southeast and has choreographed numerous theater productions. Her theater favorites include Smokey Joe's Cafe, Disney's Beauty and The Beast, Hairspray, West Side Story and Aida. Laura's former students include professional dancers, college dance and theater majors, NC Governor's School attendees, college dance team members and cheerleaders, as well as numerous National Title Winners. Laura and her husband Zack have three wonderful sons, Jack, Jensen, and JD.

Karissa was born and raised on the beautiful island of Bermuda. When she was eleven years old she started her dance training at the In Motion School of Dance. She quickly fell in love with dancing and at fourteen years old her hard work enabled her to become a senior company member of the Concepts In Motion Dance Ensemble. Over the years she studied ballet, jazz, modern, tap and hip hop. In 2005, Karissa graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance. Since then she has danced professionally with M.C. Kinetic Works Dance Company, E.E. Balcos and Company and Cyrus Art Productions. In 2013, she graduated from UNC Greensboro with a Master of Science in Athletic Training. She incorporates what she has learned in anatomy, injury prevention and injury rehabilitation as much as possible while teaching to help prevent unnecessary injuries from occurring while dancing. Karissa is an active member of Carolina Dance Masters, Inc. and Dance Masters of America, Inc.

Clogging, Ballet, and Tap Instructor

A member of the Studio J Dance Center family from the start, Brandi began her dance training under Mrs. Laura as a young child. She has over 14 years of training in clogging, ballet, tap, and jazz. Brandi has won many regional and national awards as a competitive clogger and recently as a teacher and choreographer. Outside of dance, Brandi holds an A.A. degree in Photojournalism from Randolph Community College.

Robbie Anderson : Guest Choreographer/Instructor

Robbie began dancing at the age of four. He has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip hop, clogging, and acrobatics. Among his many accomplishments as a dancer, he was named America's Mister Dance 2009, and Senior Dancer of the Year 2010 for Dance Machine Productions. Robbie successfully competed at the regional and national levels including winning a Grand National Champion Award with his duet partner and sister, Rebecca Anderson. Robbie recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a member of the co-ed cheerleading squad for four years. While a student at UNC, Robbie continued his dance career as a member of Blank Canvas Dance Company. Away from Studio J, Robbie is working as a director for Boogie Fever USA National Dance Championships.

Kim is a lifelong native of Randolph County. She received her acrobatics training under the instruction of former Carolina Dance Masters President, Betty Newell. Kim was a member of the Asheboro Acro Debs Competitive Team. She also has training in ballet, tap, jazz, baton, and cheerleading. Kim and her husband Bobby are the proud parents of Studio J dancer, Whitney.

Rebecca Anderson : Acro, Jazz, and Hip Hop Instructor

Acro, Jazz, and Hip Hop Instructor

Rebecca Anderson is a graduate from North Carolina State University with a bachelors degree in Psychology. She was a member in the NC State Dance Program, with Panoramic Dance Project for five years, and has choreographed several works featured in NCSU's formal Dance concerts. Her piece entitled Spoon-fed was selected to be adjudicated at the 2016 American College Dance Association convention at WVU. She's currently the Rehearsal Assistant for NC State's Dance Program. Rebecca grew up dancing at Studio J and is trained in modern, ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, acrobatics and hip-hop. She is currently an instructor at Studio J, To the Pointe Dance, and Main Street Dance. She's also a stage manager and has judged various competitions for Dance Machine Productions. Rebecca was America's Teen Miss Dance in 2010 and also received the 2015/2016 Arts NC State Performing artist award for Dance. In her future she has hopes of getting her Masters of Fine Arts in Dance, with a focus in choreography and dance education.
